Include Health Care Freedom in Health Care Reform

Bookmark and Share

Everyone has a right to make informed choices regarding his or her personal health care. California law recognizes the professional legitimacy of alternative and complementary health care practitioners and healers, and allows them to legally provide and advertise their services. National Certification means a practitioner has met or exceeded is a standard of excellence in their profession. For example, I have been certified for all of North America by the Council for Homeopathic Certification for North America.1

The time has come to extend the right to choose alternative and complementary practitioners to all states of our nation. Please join me in my support of health care freedom in health care reform. I encourage you to contact your US Senator and ask for your health care freedom. Find out how to contact your US Senator HERE. Sing a petition asking legislators to include homeopathy in health care legislation HERE.

An open letter to the US Senate:
I want to personally say thank you to US Senator Bernie Sanders, and all of our legislators, for the inclusion of the language of "Licensed Complementary & Alternative Medical (CAM) Professionals" in our Health Care Reform. I urge you to include the "Unlicensed CAM Professionals who are Nationally Certified" in our Health Care Reform as well.

The majority of CAM professions do not require licensure, as they pose no threat or harm, and therefore will never be "licensed" CAM professions. National Certification ensures a quality of education that one can depend upon when seeking or referring professional consultation.

As a certified classical homeopath, I am an unlicensed CAM professional. I have obtained my certification from the Council for Homeopathic Certification for North America, and I am registered with the North American Society of Homeopaths2. Certification ensures that I meet and exceed a standard of excellence set by my peers. While I am able to practice in California thanks to the Health Care Freedom Act (2003 SB577)3, I am not free to practice in all states. National Health Care Freedom goes hand in hand with National Health Care Reform.

The time has come for National Health Care Freedom. Please include unlicensed complementary and alternative medical professionals who have National Certification in Health Care Reform.

Sincerely,

Myra Nissen, CCH, RSHom(NA)

4 Ways to Save on Homeopathic Care

I am now a practitioner of Healthways WholeHealth Networks. If your health insurance company is a member you can be referred to my practice and receive a discounted rate. A number of common insurance companies contract with Healthways. Here are just a few of the companies who were members as of August 1, 2009: Aetna, Anthem (CA, CO, MO, NV), Coverdell (National), Kaiser (CO), Microsoft, Principal, and Wellpoint In-Tune. Ask your insurance provider if they are a member of Healthways WholeHealth Networks or offer a CAM (Complimentary & Alternative Medicine) program today.

I offer a generous referral program for existing clients. Refer a friend or family member and receive your next follow-up visit for free. This a $95 value.

Ask your doctor if he/she supports homeopathy. I work with many doctors who are supportive of homeopathy. Occasionally they have referred their clients to my practice for homeopathic care.

Another way to save, some employers offer a Flexible Spending Account, for health services not covered by insurance plans. Often this benefit can be used for the reimbursement of Homeopathic services. Ask your employer. Find out more about Flexible Spending Accounts here.
